Privacy & GDPR

Honest and short. No fine-print tricks, no 8,000 words of legal language.

What we store

  • The name and URL slug of the user
  • The PIN (encrypted with bcrypt) and optionally the admin's email address
  • The buttons, contacts, calendar items and messages family configures
  • Phone numbers of emergency contacts (for SMS)
  • Activity log: which buttons were pressed when
  • Check-in timestamps (only when, not 'good' or 'bad')

What we don't store

  • No location data
  • No browsing history outside Clearly Screen
  • No WhatsApp conversations (those go directly through WhatsApp, we don't see them)
  • No banking, email or medical data
  • No advertising cookies or analytics pixels on the user's start page

Where it lives

All data is stored in the EU at Supabase (EU region, GDPR-compliant) and Vercel (EU edge). Photos sit in a protected Supabase Storage bucket. The user's personal page is not reachable via a public link: the data is served only to the paired app on their own computer.

Processors outside us

  • Twilio: for sending SMS (help, check-in, alerts). Only phone number and message text are passed.
  • Resend: for magic-link emails and weekly digest emails. Only email address and message content.
  • Open-Meteo: for weather forecast (no user data, location-only).

No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar trackers.

Your rights

You have the right to view, correct, take with you (data portability) or delete your data. Email privacy@clearlyscreen.com. Response within 7 business days, often much sooner.

On cancellation, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Security

Access to the admin environment is protected by a PIN or magic-link (email). PINs are only stored encrypted (bcrypt). All traffic goes over HTTPS.

If there is ever a data breach (we do everything to prevent that), we report it within 72 hours to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and to you, per GDPR art. 33-34.

Not a medical alarm

Clearly Screen is not a medical device and not an alerting service. The HELP button sends SMS messages to contacts set by family. No ambulance, no control room. In medical emergencies always call 112 (or your local emergency number).
